MALEK AWADH | Melvindale: While Ahmed and Hezam were finishing plays in the attacking third, it was Malek Awadh holding down the fort in the midfield throughout the season for Melvindale. The seinor joined his forward teammates in earning honorable mention all-state recognition at season’s end, as well as both all-district and all-region honors. MOHAMED HEZAM | Melvindale: The aforementioned Amged Ahmed formed one of the stronger 1-2 punches up top locally with Mohamed Hezam opposite his fellow all-state teammate in the attacking third. It was in fact Hezam who was the beneficiary of most scoring opportunities for Melvindale this past season as the senior turned in a team-high 19 goals. AMGED AHMED | Melvindale: It was another strong season on the pitch for the traditionally-talented Melvindale program, who picked up a dozen wins and once more shared the Western Wayne Athletic Conference crown with Crestwood at season’s end. Perhaps their biggest playmaker in the attacking third was Amged Ahmed, who was named all-district, region, and third-team all-state honors in what was his junior season. ABDALRHMAN ALRATAN | Melvindale: On a team littered with highly-skilled players in the middle and attacking third, perhaps the most important piece to the puzzle for Melvindale this season came in the form of Abdalrhman Alratan on the back line. The senior defender earned all-district and all-region honors for a Cardinals team that shared the WWAC championship with longtime rival Dearborn Heights Crestwood.
